In this sense, this library is really a dictionary and guide. The library offers a common vocabulary all staff members can use to talk about behavioral skills. This is an important tool used to define behaviors that are essential for Syracuse University to achieve its strategic goals. Behavioral indicators can be seen or heard when particular competencies are demonstrated. Demonstrates clear awareness of the issues facing the University and its intended objectives. Confronts potentially unethical behavior, reports indiscretions appropriately.

Develops cooperation and teamwork while participating in a group, working toward solutions which generally benefit all involved parties.

Demonstrates respect for the opinions of others. Identifies and pushes for solutions in which all parties can benefit. Keeps people informed and up-to-date. Shares information and own expertise with others to enable them to accomplish group goals. Creates an atmosphere in which timely and high-quality information flows smoothly up and down, inside and outside of the University; encourages open expression of ideas and opinions.

Asks open-ended questions that encourage others to give their points-of-view and is approachable at all times. Keeps relevant people accurately informed and up-to-date of both positive and potentially negative information.

Encourages response and dissent to ideas and issues. Effectively transfers thoughts and expresses ideas orally or verbally in individual or group situations. Presents oneself clearly and articulately when speaking with an individual or before a group assuring that others fully comprehend the intended message.
